I'm in, of course, but I'll be virtually unavailable for a week. I'll stick with Doran.

Robert shouldn't be necessary for the beginning: he'd start the game at the Gates of the Moon (assuming the false spring was over) as Jon Arryn's ward.

And yes, the longer you play as someone the more you'll sympathize with them. I was never on Team Stannis before the last game.

I went through several characters in the last ASOIAF game because Lumine killed everyone I loved.

I feel slightly ashamed that I never actually managed to kill you, though I hope I get some credit for sending one of your characters to the Wall and making another commit suicide.

That was well worth the wait. It seems the fun has started very very early this time; we didn't have anybody die until turn 3 in the last game.

Ugh; everything was going so well too. So much for the long and glorious regency of Elia. Thinking about it, I was having a perfect turn until it turned into the worst possible scenario.

I've been meaning to put out a PoV, but Laaaw Schooool has been keeping me away. I swear I'll try to get one out before the turn ends

I'm only concerned at the death rate and success of assassinations so far. I mean all male adult claimants to the throne are dead, Stannis is something like 16 at best. Just kinda a bit dead endish imo lol

I agree, Malcolm and I are going to discuss it. Some of the stuff in the turn 2 post may change. I will also be adding everyone else's orders to the post (though i'll note i never received turn 2 orders from Talley or Dereich).

I don't know about Talley, but I chose to sit last round out for in-character and strategic reasons.

You didn't have to tell everyone!!! I could have kept looking like a mysterious master plotter!

POV coming tonight, and it's a doozy. Very excited to show you guys what's up at Riverrun. >Smile

Oh, no.

Yes, I do imagine someone will be saying that when all is said and done.

Stop taunting us and post the PoV!

So I was hoping that I might be able to join the game if most players approve.  If it happens, I promise not to in any way use/trade on knowledge from when I moded (most of which will be public knowledge anyway at the end of the turn anyway) and enter as a pragmatic mid-level Lord (Roose! ) so as not to randomly screw up the power-dynamic in the game.  I'd also be willing to forgo having a special ability if necessary.  I know Talley4trand, Badgate, Lumine, Dereich, and Enduro have all signed off on it, but I thought I'd put it out there for the rest of you guys too.  Thoughts?

Fine with me. I would recommend an essosi faction though, or someone like House Velaryon/Rosby so as not to rock Lord's paramounts' boats though. Crownlands factions are all fair game imo, Roose is a but too involved and you far too sneaky

I think we need to have a serious sitdown about your addiction though Wink

Well, Roose hasn't really done anything all game and I don't see why my being sneaky should factor into whether or not this is okay for me to do.  My thinking with Roose is 1) right now only Enduro is doing stuff in the North and it'd be fun to add another player there, 2) Roose is probably the only character left who'd be really fun to play as realistically (unless someone dies) without screwing up the current power structure, 3) Essos isn't really involved in anything going on, and 4) Too low a level Lord (like Rosby or Velaryon) would probably restrict my gameplay too much.

Disregarding everything else, I seem to recall a player having pretty great success as a bastard born non-lord with no assets but a few boats...

So long as Badgate is confident he can mod on his own it's fine by me. I think having mid-level lords in the game is quite important. In ASOIAF how the Lord Paramounts deal with the lords under their control is just as important as how they deal with their enemies (See: Robb Stark.)

@Garlan: I imagine Varys would be a difficult one to pull off seeing as he doesn't control any armies or the like. Would he fit the game? I'd suggest your friend pick some mid-level Lord they have an affinity with (JonCon, Rosby, Florent, Hightower, Dayne...)

I really think that depends on the game; the first game was pretty much 100% army intensive, but there was lots of room for intrigue last game that a Varys could use. THIS game, so far, has been all intrigue. A Varys could have changed a LOT

So. I was told this place is fun. Which noble house to ruin first and as whom?

Ok, first you're going to have to get to 20 posts in order to send PM's; second, Eddard Stark is going to become available soon, please do not take him, I have placed a dibs on him; third, you're going to have to wait until a character is available.

No worries, I wasn't hoping to nick the Starks - the popular kids are usually not my taste. But - attagirl - this amusing streak of suspicion might keep good ol' Ned alive a little while longer in this parallel universe.

So. I was told this place is fun. Which noble house to ruin first and as whom?

There are many middling houses available at present. We have someone playing as Roose Bolton, for example. Any lord you wish should be alright.

If I recall correctly, Jon Connington, the Florents, and Orton Merrywether are available.
Ah, great! And actually a bit of a shame - Connington could have been great. I thought actually thought about Varys, maybe the Manderlys, maybe even (already?) coughing Rosby ooor the some Wildlings. But now that I think of it the Florents could be great. I was just hoping for a few general pointers on a position that wouldn't mess up the balance of the game /before/ I joined.

Is there any lesser lord in particular you'd prefer? I don't think any of those names X mentioned were official; you could probably go for any mid-level lord. A Varys might be interesting too. In a few previous games Varys has had differing levels of success.

So Quellon is guilty and Victarion is innocent...I guess the Seven are big fans of the "I was only following orders" defense.

Not for a day or two I hope! I'm just back from vacation and have a mess of PMs and moves to go through.

Right. Unless someone immediately hops over to the Tyrells, I'm out too. I don't care to go this alone or under an NPC and there are no other appealing factions to join.

I could do that as well; it'd work with phasing out of House Martell

I don't know; maybe it'd just be best to leave it be? Especially in case Badgate ever returns.

That I'd be assuming this responsibility right as finals season ramps up is a major problem here.

Badgate! You're alive! You just vanished on us and we were all pretty worried; what happened?
