Abortion:
Sitting on the fence. Basically, I couldn't care less.
Opose governemnt funding of abortiong and parcial birth abortion tough.
And its basically states' rights.

War on Iraq:
Opposed. Give me the Monroe Doctrine anytime.

Tax Cuts:
Good, because the rich pay way much more than thier fair share. They should be given to the working middle class too. They should also be acompained of widespread budget cuts(the first of them could be knock down the department of education).

Gun Control:
What part of "shall not be infringed" don't you understand? Smiley
Repeal all federal gun control. The rest is states' rights.

Education:
Get the federal goverment out of education. It's states's rights all the way. Knock down the department of education and repeal all regulations. Vouchers one of the worst ideas anyone ever had, since theu are only a mesn to get the government in control of private schools.

Religion:
Wall between church and state. Opose wackos like ex-chief Justice Moore.

Homeland Security:
The Department of Homeland Security is a joke. Knock it down and repeal the Patriot Act.

Other Civil Liberties:
Afirmative Action is reverse discrimination. Kill it.
Repeal all hate speach laws.
Knock down the FCC.
Equal rights for everyone.

Gay marriage:
Churches' rights. The federal government has no authority to legislate about marriage.

Death Penalty:
Opose it, because it's not fair that someone who caused so much suffering suffers only a few seconds of fisical pain. Replace death penalty by life without parole WITH forced works. But Federal Crimes should only be Treason, High Sea Piracy and Couterfeiting Currency. THe rest is states' rights.

I'd like to ammend my statement.
Abortion
After reflection, I'm now pro-life. Maybe tollerant with abortions in the first 3 months, but unsure. Tollerant for sure of next day pills.

Portugal is heavily conservative in this regard is it not. I heard somewhere it is a federal offence to procure an abortion as the country is predominantly Catholic?

You must be on the liberal side of the issue in your country in  this regard?

No. You're probabily confusing with Ireland. In Portugal. In Portugal, it is legal to have an abortion until 12 weeks(or is it 8?), given therer is a risk to the health of the mother or the baby. Otherwise it is a crime(not a federal offense becuase Portugal is not a federal state Smiley ) but judges are not very emphatic punishing it, ven because the former prime-minister Barroso said in the next legislative session, if he was in still in power, he would de-criminalize it. But with the change of government now, I'm not sure what will happen. The parties in power are the same tough, so I don't know. But it's not allways a crime, altough the legislation is very restrictive. There is a lot of clandestine abortions going on, oh that's sure.

If anything, we should be banning public schools.

Portugal rejected a referendum which would liberalize the abortion law 49%-51% a few years ago. There have been some prosecutions of nurses who perform abortions, most notably the case of Maria do Ceu Ribeiro, but they have met with much controversy. For example, the Catholic bishop of Oporto has denounced the prosecutions.

Yea, I know that, since I live here. It was a referendum to increase the "window" in which abortion is legal from 12(or 8, whatever, I don't remember), to 16 weeks. Yes, tehre have been prosecutions, but most judges don't give serious sentences for it.

Would you people., expecially those who for some reason oppose private schools, read this article:
http://www.harrybrowne.org/articles/FreeTheSchools.htm

P.S.--I go to a private school, and I like it. I would hate to go to one of those crappy government schools.
