Not really; Communist support was always very concentrated (both geographically and in other ways). Of course they lost even that after the Soviet Union started pointing nukes at us.

That was more when the members started bailing. Electoral base long gone by then: even Willie Gallacher lost by 33pts (and came third) in 1950.
