Interesting report on Buzzfeed.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/evanmcsan/bernie-sanders-campaign-accessed-confidential-clinton-data#.btmw43MNv

The Bernie Sanders campaign accessed confidential data from the Clinton campaign through a DNC voter database.

The DNC suspended the Sanders campaign's access to the data, which is key for early caucuses and primaries, until they can be sure that the information has been deleted.

The Sanders campaign fired the person who accessed the data.

I'm a bit perplexed at the punishment because it seems they did everything right, pointing out the flaw to the vendor.

I wonder if this will backfire.

When there's an appearance of shenanigans, I've observed that turnout increases among Democrats.

For example, attempts to keep Rahm Emanuel and Mike Duggan off the ballot in their first mayoral bids led to increased support.

I'm reminded of an anecdote from All Too Human, the memoir of George Stephanopoulos, at the time a Clinton campaign advisor.

So a campaign Hillary Clinton was intimately involved in did take advantage of a similar opening.
