Well, a lot of Republicans (don't know exact percentage, but - a lot) call itself "pro-choice", but how many of them are in Congress now? At most: Collins, may be - Murkowski and Hanna. There were dozens 20-30 years ago. Polarization seems to make both parties ideologically rigid (and mirror image of each other), and elections - less and less interesting with each passing year...

Not every Democrat, who voted for Stupak-Pitts was really pro-life. Many (like Michaud, Kaptur, Ryan, Doyle, Lynch, Bishop) are rather "moderates" on issue, voting for some, but, surely, not all pro-life legislation... They are not "pure"...))))
