Ads have their place (raising name rec, and absolutely last minute negative blitzes) but the data shows that they're the least efficient way to affect your portion of the vote.
Well, not least efficient. Lawn signs are the absolutely least efficient.
They cost next to nothing to make and you can "sell" them for $5-10 donations. They're not really advertising so much as a revenue generator.
