Once lincoln_wall takes his turn, you can take a turn by adding a country to the map and giving its information and history.  Make sure its history aligns with everyone else's, since this is one single world.

Oh, I know about that; I'm just wondering about exactly how I'd go about adding a country to the map. Is it some sort of file thing?

Copy and paste it into Microsoft Paint or some other similar program.  It will be full size when you paste it into there.  Make sure you don't save it is a JPEG which distorts the image.

If you don't have Paint, you can just describe where your country is and the next person can fill it in.

Thanks!

Official Name: United Republics of the Gold Coast
Common Name: (The) Gold Coast
Territorial Description: On the southern coast of West Africa: bounded by the Niger [Asante] River and the Aragonese kingdom of Dakar
Capital: Executive at Kumasi, legislative at Accra, judicial at Porta Ivornas
Government: Constitutional monarchy with an Aragonese-style Parliament and Prime Minister, who according to the constitution must serve one six-year term and rotate between hailing from each original kingdom - the kingdoms are organized under the national umbrella much like our United States of America.
Level of Freedom: Low
Population: 137,012,000
Languages: Gold Coast Latin (official), various native languages
Religion: Islam (official) 65%, Roman Catholic 31%, other and indigenous 4%
Level of Technology and Development: Medium to low, though they have had the assistance of the Crown.
History: First colonized by the Crown of Aragon in the early 19th century, the Gold Coast (known then as the kingdoms of Benin, Ghana, and Asante) was worked to the bone for its natural resources until, finally, the people had had damn well enough of it. Inspired by the American revolutions of that time, General Osei Tutu rallied his people around the ideals of Johann Kreutzer (a man about whom no one really knew much and was in general idolized as some sort of hero of all the oppressed masses) led a long, bloody guerilla war against the colonial masters, finally winning independence in 1944 and declaring himself King Osei. After that new-independence smell wore off, around 1948, the three ex-kingdoms began to quarrel among themselves and a nasty civil war broke out, killing King Osei in the fighting. In 1956, a peace agreement was finally reached, brokered by the Crown of Aragon, that set up the modern system of government. Things continued peacefully on from then, with the nation staying out of foreign wars and maintaining a close relationship with the Crown. The most recent king, Osei II, died in 2007, and his son, the current king, took power as King Kwame.
Interesting Facts: The Gold Coast has a longstanding commitment to harmony among its peoples - most religions and ethnic groups get along very well with each other, aside from the occasional flareup. It also has a rather active music scene.

If Ernest objects to anything I said about his country, feel free to tell me to change any things about it. I'm also not sure about how to do all this map-editing, so can you do it please Harry?

Bigger. It's flush up against the Aragonese kingdom in southern West Africa (Dakar), and its borders run the length of the Niger River all the way to the ocean.

OK, but I think your population is extremely low for a country that big.  In our world, that area probably has well over 100,000,000 people -- possibly more, depending on how exactly Nigeria's population is distributed on that side of the river (I didn't bother to look every single country and state up).

I've edited it to include approximately the RL populations of Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Cote d'Ivoire - all rounded.

I will do one. Could somebody post the link to the latest "official" map?

It's in Harry's latest post.

Official Name: Republica Libre de Marcella (Free Republic of Marcella)
Common Name: Marcella
Territorial Description: Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, New Caledonia, Jamestown, the Crown of Aragon, the Confederacio d'Indigines, and part of the Hanseatic League (that big blank space in between all of them)
Capital: Marcella City
Government: Modeled after the Castilian system, but with some changes - a unicameral Senate with 100 members and a President elected once every six years - the current President is
Level of Freedom: High
Population: 35.8 million
Languages: Castilian is the official language and the most widely spoken, followed by English, Latin, and then the various native languages.
Religion: Catholic (official) 82%, Jewish 5%, other Christian 2%, other/atheist 11%
Level of Technology and Development: High - Marcella City contains some of the world's top research universities
History: What is known today as Marcella was "discovered" and claimed for Castile in 1481 by Agostino Marcello, who being the brash explorer that he was named the whole goddamn place after himself. Castile enjoyed this addition to its rapidly growing empire very much (as well as the [South American] colony of Santa Cruz, as it allowed the Kingdom to compete with Aragon for imperial might. In 1757, however, Marcella and Santa Cruz independently rebelled against Mad King Alfonso VII, who was too weak to stop them. After finally winning the Revolutionary War (aka the Marcellan War for Independence), they celebrated in their newfound victory and quickly settled down to killing natives. Along with Jamestown and the Aragonese kingdom of New Burgundy, they hammered out a border and gave those pesky non-Europeans their own damn country where they wouldn't steal our Marcellan jobs! could live in peace and do their own native tradition thing - those that stayed in Marcella were rather forcibly converted to Catholicism and made to adopt European traditions in the policy of blanceado. Along with Jamestown, Marcella still had a heavy hand in the running of the CdI government until they withdrew from the Council of Overseers in 1899, and they only abolished slavery in 1882. Relations with the native community are still strained to this day. In the modern era, they don't really do much - staying out of PE3, siding with Castile on most things, all that jazz. The Marcellans are content to chug along and live happy lives.
Interesting Facts: While it remains an independent republic, Marcella continued to recognize the Castilian king as its monarch until the Republicans came to power in the mother country and abolished the position. It is envious of the New Caledonians, its bigger, sexier brother northern neighbor, and is among the world's leading producers of coal.
