jobs where you got a paycheck and fica taxes were taken out.

Then 9 with 11 total. Bouncer and roofer were cash. 
6 total post college, 2 of which were short consult stints.  Also 36 years old.

Piecing together from the rent cost post and this that your parents must do well.  No problem in that.  That said, I do think there is good value and character building in throwing in a day's work but you are still young ans likely finishing school.

Tbh, if I hit the lottery I would certainly not be doing the 9-5 gig but would still do work.
