I'm glad to hear it. But this is a battle for the soul of America. I know that's a popular trope, but it seems pretty clear that something profound is going on. And frankly, one side is right and one side is wrong. Showing up to protest isn't a lawless act, and thankfully there does not appear to have been too much violence.

The protestors are to blame. Why walk in there and start ripping up Trump stickers? Look at this idiot on the frontpage of cnn starting all this violence. I'm not a Trump supporter but these guys really need to tone it down.

For god's sake, ripping up a Trump sticker does not warrant a violent response.

But it sure helps.

As does calling Mexicans rapists, encouraging supporters to punch protestors in the face, and demonizing Muslims. One is a systematic pattern of hatred and racial incitement. One is a small incident that could happen between a couple kids in kindergarten. I'd think we'd be above this.

I have to say, I am usually very anti-protest. And I actually found myself thinking that this is a protest I would have wanted to be at.

Pretty much. I guess that's what happens when you have a leading candidate for president suggest that everyone of a certain religion get registered and banned from entering the country. I suppose they should also wear some kind of symbol on their chest for easy identification. Makes sense.

Whatever violence happened is unfortunate and should be condemned from all directions.

But what makes you and me different is that I will not deliberately choose to miss the forest for the trees and enable the worst episodes of human history to be recreated on Trump's watch. No thank you. By all means, put yourself on the wrong side of history, but I don't want to have regrets decades down the line because of some dogmatic attachment to law and order... or to a warped analytical frame that legitimizes Donald Trump.
