Democracy empowers the people to determine their fate through dictating who will lead their country.  If the people are wise and knowledgable, then democracy will produce favorable results.  If they aren't, then democracy will not.  Democracy is not inherently a good or bad thing; it simply is what it is.

Not true. Tongue
It's just that good things do not necessarily follow from other good things.

How is that not true?  It seems to me that an electoral system can only be called "good" if it produces more favorable outcomes for the people at large than any other electoral system would.  Democracy usually does this, but it is not inherent in democracy for this to happen.
