I'm always amazed at how much some conservatives seem to know about liberals!  I mean, if you had asked me, I would have said that I, as a liberal, wasn't in favor of passing hate speech laws that would result in the Bible being banned, but you know, I guess I had myself wrong all along.

No, it's in the news. They've already tried.

How do the actions of individual Democrats (also, note that "liberal" =/= "Democrat") say anything about Democrats as a whole?

Your attempts at establishing strict homogeneity among Democrats and liberals are wearing thin.  Read this and try again.

How about we just keep religion out of politics?

Sounds like a plan to me...

WOW, that's crazy talk.

We all know the DNC is the anti-Christian party of the two. A third of them would gladly take "under God" out of the pledge and make it illegal to try to convert homosexuals in public.

I'm curious as to where you got the figure that 33% of the Democratic Party wants to do those things.

I did not mean that libs can't be Christians. I just meant that Christians tend to be more right-wing, sorry. Smiley

Actually, it's 50% true.

They want to pass "hate speech" laws that would be contrary to the Bible, ban certain kinds of preaching, and in theory, would require the Bible to be made politically correct.

It's a serious movement inside the party. They consider it protecting gay people (plus other alternative lifestyles) and their "civil rights." Sexism, anti-gay, you name it.

Some of the Bible can be interpreted into hate speech.

No, we don't want to ban it, but get it out of my face.

So you're saying ban it from public places only or what?

Yes, only public places

Banning the Bible from public places? I rest my case.

I rest my case.

Everything about liberalism conflicts with the Bible

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good in them which despitefully use you and persecute you." - Matthew 5:44

"Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy." - Matthew 5:7

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." - Matthew 5:9

"But whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?" - 1 John 3:17

That doesn't sound very conservative in nature...

What is "liberal in nature", in that case?

I believe that "public places" is meant to mean "places owned by the government", not "places where lots of people are".

Oh, let's ban the Bible. Great idea! In fact, let's ban everything offensive and hateful, because we dislike it. Well, Mark Twain's work contains the 'N' word, so let's ban it in public places. In fact, to avoid offending everyone, we are banning all written, spoken, and gestured language within public property. Let's also urinate on the Bill of Rights and wipe our arses with the Declaration of Independence. You see where I'm going with this, don't you?

Liberty comes at many prices - one of them is dealing with other people who also must be free. Not everyone will get along, and just because you dislike what someone else says or believes that does not give you the right to censor them. JUST IGNORE IT. Tolerance is a virtue of liberalism - but tolerance does not mean the same thing as acceptance. I accept gays, I tolerate Nazis and Communists. There's a big difference. Even if I think Nazis and Communists are morons with dangerous philosophies(which thankfully have been castrated by history) I don't advocate banning them.

Yes, I agree fully.

I'm beginning to see why some people are starting to call you a troll.
