We already knew that the IDS is a polarized region but that's really extreme. Wink

That's really extreme? The Legislature is shaping up to have a partisan vote on the official snack. The last game reform Constitutional amendment was almost-entirely a partisan vote. Elections like this seem to be a thing of the past, sadly.

You seem to enjoy with polarization, SJoyce. On the other hand, I didn't give my opinion on the official snack and, believe me, it's not a capital issue for me.  The choice between bretzels and cornbreads won't make me losing any sleep and I really don't care if we adopt both or if we give apples the status of official food of the Legislature.

And for past elections, at least you have an opposition. My impression is that there was less ideological diversity in your Golden Era. What we need is more independents or members from other parties and a slightly inferior number of federalists (I include you in the count, whatever your party registration is). Nowadays we have an army of Fed zombie voters that make outcomes fairly predictable, thanks to Operation Carpetbagger, and our independent citizens (I mean people who isn't from the two main parties in the South) aren't very active lately.

I like cornbread and it symbolizes our culture - 'bretzels' do not (they're largely Pennsylvanian).

So you are going to turn a trivial issue into a partisan one.

Bit less party diversity, maybe, but there was a fair amount of ideological diversity: Hagrid, myself, Duke, Kal, Mecha, Jbrase - we're not all carbon copies of each other.

I'm not a carbon copy of Adam, Zanas or Seatown. I see that you, Hagrid, Jbrase, etcetera are pretty similar on the ideological compass.

Y'all were the ones doing the carpetbagging, not us. And there's like 5 independent citizens, so regardless of how active they are...

Registration figures and the people who come at the booths in election days are pretty eloquent. Operation Carpetbagger is a fact

No, I'm going to do what's best for this region, and 'round here we see a bunch more cornbread than bretzels.

Registration figures and the people who come at the booths in election days are pretty eloquent.
That doesn't logically follow. You're claiming that the right had a massive registration advantage and now are claiming they're carpetbagging, and your evidence is that they still have a registration advantage?

The right had always advantage in this region. However, when you have felt threatened by the slight increase of the competitiveness in electoral races, you have recruited new people totally foreign to the region. It does not suppose a major problem for me new people coming from the outside. Nevertheless, you have resorted to the same trick of which you accused us, increasing spectacularly the number of registered federalists until the point of supposing practically the half of the census. The majority of these new or old federalists do not contribute anything to the debate in the region. At least, it looks like to me a hypocritical attitude from your side to have done a campaign of discredit against us for several months. Losing a few elections in a game is not a drama for me; some of you seem to believe that the possibility of a change would be the Apocalypse and the End of the Times.

As for cornbreads and bretzels, your festering is somewhat ridiculous or understandable for me. I never believed possible that it was turning into an object of dispute. If you have limited yourself to explain the advantages of the snack of your preference... "The best for our region" is eating one or another!!! I'll go to a Turkish restaurant or something! Grin

Come on, this never will be a partisan nor ideological issue, by any means.

Really? You should poll that and see if anyone else would agree. Smiley

I'd still like to see who these carpet-baggers are, so I can make sure I don't accidentally vote for one.

Am I a carpet-bagger?
[/quote]

I usually disagree with some people that you have mentioned before, probably as examples of carpetbaggers. For example, opebo and me have different and even opposite views in a huge amount of issues. I don't want to make a personal question of this, just check the rolls. And, please, don't use the double standard here, as SJoyce and others do. On the other hand, I'd like to see your party and others being something more than non-entities in the South. We need independent voices and parties with distinctive platforms. I don't know if you are a carpetbagger. Do you live down here? Do you think, like some people in the South, that I'm one of those? Wink

And you're missing Al's exhausted vote (I suppose "blank ballot" is not the same as NOTA?)
So that's three errors on the three ballots I know without having to check. I just hope that rate of error isn't repeated in the remainder of the count. Wink

"Blank ballot" and "none of the above" are technically the same. FTR, I won't accept write-ins for the At-Large Senate Election Grin
