I am leaving the interwebz for a while, but I wanted to do some reform of our space programs, focusing on some things that we know are putting us closer to finding life and resources outside of this planet, and looking at the history of the world beyond. I left a lot blank because I want the Senate to give feedback on this legislation and see what is necessary and what we can do.

Why do we require a higher standard for increasing space research spending than any other spending?

Beyond a certain point: I want to hold limits so that the program doesn't get bloated.

That seems like an incredibly low limit. That was less than our surplus (pre-Nixcome).

If you want to amend it, be my guest, I was writing it with the intent that you would have comments like that.

Well now we need to deal with the TBA on the numbers, and I want to hear some ideas, I'll probably put out some of my own tomorrow afternoon.

When can we expect that amendment.

I don't have much knowledge of the subject. What are the current levels of funding each of these blank areas and what practical impact does one or the other level of increase/decrease have in terms of results?

That's a good question for the GM, which I will get to Nix now.

With two small exceptions, I am friendly to the changes you have made.

1. I wanted to enhance the focus of NASA on things we know we can learn a lot more from, as well as possibilities for life and resources. With Earth's Moon and non-Mars terrestrial planets, we have seemed to find out what we can: Venus is stormy and Mercury is terrible.

2. Doubling spending in this area is questionable to me, though I think we can increase it. I would be willing to increase spending to 15 Billion, the amount I originally set as a cap, but beyond that I think I would be hardpressed to agree to such a spending increase.

So here's what I think is Hostile:

And the rest of the changes are constructive and friendly.

I feel like we just did, with the increase to $15 Million, and just the same amount of spending on terrestrial planets.

Now we're waiting on Nix for some numbers, then we can update this with real stuff.

Here is the reasons for my increases:

The main reason I want this to go through is to look at life on Europa, and the fact is, at least within this year, research should be increased massively from the very small $20 Million we have put into the program. As for other areas, giving them double digit percentage increases due to their importance, with other areas kept the same.

There is one gap still left, but there is now progress on this.

I Purple heart Maxwell's amendments.

Are we ok with just maintaining a $15 billion per year rate? I am.

Sure, if there is some serious changes, we can revise it.

I think this looks good besides the part that I already am going after.

I'm not sure what to do with dates for the future (like some goal like a JFK sort of thing), but if someone else wants to throw it out, be my guest. Besides that, I think a final vote after this amendment would be pretty cool.

Glad this not controversial but nevertheless important piece of legislation passed with flying colors, and now we have refocused the Space Program so that it makes more sense in a post-Moon Landing era.
