The problem is that Trump flips the George Costanza rule - "It's not a lie if you sound like you believe it". When Clinton lies it seems to be a flailing feeling of trying to get this obnoxious thing off my back (ie she makes it very obvious), when Trump lies he makes it feel like he's lying from the gut. Hence, why Clinton is viewed as more dishonest despite obviously not being so.
