This turn is over btw, I'm half way through the dice rolls. One of you, I'm afraid, is dead. Two to three more players may also be in danger.

It may be delayed a couple of hours... hearing of John Hurt's death forced me to watch some of his scenes as Caligula.

But dice rolls are done, three of you ended up dying.

Windjammer, Swedge, GoTfan, excellent work. I'm sorry that you had to meet your end on this turn, but you were excellent players and I'm glad all of you took part so far in the game.

I do feel I need to explain the Stannis situation, just so there's no confusion:

I learned very early in the game that Stannis was planning to declare for Viserys, which did led to an internal conflict on how to read Stannis and whether he'd even consider it. I decided to let the matter go for a turn to see what happened, and I asked Garlan and GoTfan to explain why should I allow this action despite it being hard to justify in canon. Both their answers proved satisfactory to me, and I decided to give it a green light... with a twist.

Even if we accept the argument of Stannis seeing Viserys as the legal heir as he agonized over whether to fight Aerys with Robert, I highly doubt the smallfolk, his lords and his allies would be willing to accept his turn, so I added a dice roll by the time he declared for Viserys on how badly the response would go, 1 being acceptable, 6 being a disaster. Stannis got a six, so I crafted  the scenario you just saw. I hope that explains the situation.

Turn 5 will be up tomorrow. Blair has the right to claim a new character first as he comes from the last turn, then the players who died this turn.

Let's go over open characters:

We have House Tyrell (as Mace Tyrell) and some of its key bannermen such as Houses Florent, Hightower and Tarly. We have the Stormlands wide open after Stannis's death, so a player can choose between Eldon Estermont, Bryce Caron, Cortnay Penrose and, if we really want to go to uncharted territory, play as young Edric Storm.

Davos Seaworth is another possibility, I can retcon his presence in KL and have him in charge of Stannis's armies and fleets in Dragonstone to give him a shot.

In Essos we also have Tyrosh (As Drogo's ally and now expanding through South Essos), the Iron Bank of Braavos (although I've made little progress on how they should be played), and of course, the adventurer Euron Greyjoy.

That aside, there's Yohn Royce, Wyman Manderly or Roose Bolton as other important Lords (although I'd very much encourage taking Tyrell first, and perhaps the Stormlords second unless we want to have that as NPC's).

Events in King's Landing will be moving fast (and going crazy soon), but so far none of the characters I have in mind there are available.

Afraid not. It's a flavor event, but Gendry has no education and barely realized he's Robert's son.

Blair will be joining as Mace Tyrell, his turn events will be up tomorrow.

Events for Davos and Mace are up. If Swedge and Windjammer wish to rejoin, do let me know!

Sure I might as well give Cortnay Penrose a go, seems like it'd be fun.

Nice! Your event turns will be up in a few minutes.

Fine, until tomorrow it is (26 hours more).

I don't see why you're all surprised, though, it's been literally a week and it's been several turns now we take an exact week and end on Fridays.

For the last time, include me in the PM's. I have a mess to solve with all the PM's I have since some lack the respective replies or they were sent to me much later, meaning there's some gaps to fill to calculate the current events.

Next turn I will include penalties.

Turn is over. I have a mess to solve regarding the PM's and many orders that were changed constantly, so I don't make any promises regarding when the update will be posted.

Okay, I've managed to finally sort out the orders, and I'm doing the dice rolls now. One of you is certainly dead, a few others in danger as well.

I thank Dr_Novella for playing so far, you've been an excellent part of the game!

From now on, and since Theon is in Stark custody, a Greyjoy player might be able to choose between Victarion Greyjoy, Asha Greyjoy, or, alternatively, Euron Greyjoy. Turn Six will be up tomorrow.

I don't think we should rush into general rules, this game does show that a lot of what can happen is far from inevitable and a result of player's decisions more than anything.

For the record, there's quite a few surprises I've left in the game waiting to be discovered, which can significantly alter the balance. Garlan, for example, figured on its own the eggs could be hatched and came up with a solution. There's other things out there as well, some of which I might unleash on my own if the game grows too unbalanced or too boring.

At any rate, I am game for rejoining. Maybe not as a Greyjoy though.

That would be nice!

Some available characters (other than Victarion, Euron and Asha) are:

The High Sparrow (yes, the book + show one)
Randyll Tarly, Lord of Horn Hill
Leyton Hightower, Lord of Oldtown
Yohn Royce, Lord of Runestone
Roose Bolton, Lord of the Dreadfort
Wyman Manderly, Lord of White Harbor

So can I start with diplomacy even though crises aren't up?

Ideally not, I want the crises up before getting the PM barrages.

I'm fine with the Asha justification, you'll be in charge of Pyke and the Iron Islands, but its up to you to bring Victarion in line and decide whether to crown yourself Queen or not.

Lumine, if you can explain me what is up with the High Sparrow, I would like to rejoin with him if it is possible.

Well, like in the show the sparrows flooded the capital, and since the situation was even more chaotic they managed to take over the sept of Baelor and force the election of the High Sparrow as High Septon. So you'd begin playing in the middle of King's Landing with a small army of sparrows and the moral authority of the High Septon.

It would be up to you to whether you can turn that into a powerbase given the situation, but that's more or less the idea behind the HS.

I'm fine with it Cheesy.
Will I have a special ability?

No, I didn't continue the special ability idea. It didn't quite work as intended.

The turn is a bit less detailed than usual since I'm away from home and I don't have my notes with me, but it's up anyway.

Best of luck to all!

Qyburn being better in the books? Huh, talk about different perspectives.

Anyway, this turn ends on Sunday.

To be clear, the actor gave a perfect performance; it's the writing that I have a problem with.

And on many characters I agree, I just don't really see a problem with Qyburn's writing.

I don't recall Book Qyburn being frightening at all, but that's up for debate certainly.

This turn ends on Saturday night.
