FF. One of Canada's greats. While he isn't Jack Layton, I have immense hopes for PM Muclair. His straight talking style and in depth knowledge make him uniquely qualified to be PM. I've heard him called Canada's Obama, and I honestly think that's a good analogy.

Lolno. And I say that as someone who appreciates Mulcair.

Isn't the NDP's current policy plank actually pretty centrist and fluffy?

Yeah I agree with that assessment. Mulcair has dragged his party to the centre in an attempt to consolidate Layton's gains and challenge for government. The biggest proposals in the pre-campaign period were:
  • Cut corporate tax for businesses making < $500 000
  • Create state run daycares and charge $15/day
  • Reverse the Old Age Pension age increase from 65 to 67
