Can we have the thread title changed since it is factually inaccurate?
Hm? The title is not factually inaccurate, the House Oversight Chair said "FBI reopening Clinton Email Investigation" Silly.

No, it is inaccurate. The investigation was never technically closed

The problem here is that anything associated with Clinton and emails gets blown up into the apocalypse by the media when most of it is banal

Comey will have to fall on his sword now. Electioneering from the FBI office is a huge no no. All this did was fire up the Dem base more and we are furious

Jason Chaffetz tells me he is NOT considering bringing Comey before the Oversight committee before the election.

Because Comey would have to admit he effed up

The worst thing is if this current email "scandal" turns out like the Bush DUI did in 2000* and permanently depresses her turnout. In any case, all of the election trackers will have Trump +6 any day now.

*In fact, the more I think of it, Bush would have lost outright -- PV and EV -- had the DUI story broke one week sooner than it did. Just like this email business.

The difference now is we can see what turnout looks like in lots of early voting states and track rises and dips. Early voting wasn't really a thing in 2000

Well, this is a James Comey/FBI scandal more than a Clinton scandal at this point

Comey could be facing criminal charges for this if true

I haven't read the whole thread, so help me out if I missed something. Has anyone considered that the FBI may be not only looking for new classified emails, but also for emails that indicate intent to mishandle classified emails?

I don't think anybody knows. There is speculation that the FBI must have found something troubling for Comey  to do what he did, but that is all it is, speculation. All the FBI is saying is that they want to review the emails. I don't think they have even admitted that they actually read any yet.

But even if they did, that would be illegal without a search warrant

I highly doubt Comey would do what he did unless they found something that may alter the course of the investigation. It just doesn't make sense otherwise, unless it was a maneuver to cover himself in case he's hailed back in front of congress for saying they had closed the investigation when in fact they have not.

I don't think he would do this just to influence the election. There are obviously a lot of rumors out there, but if any of them are true, it's horrible news for HRC.

Without a search warrant for Abedin's emails, it would be illegal to search them
