Great news. Cornyn wipes the floor with Stockman, who will then be out of Congress. Win-win. Plus the entertainment value.

Most likely result, but I'm still excited, same reason as you: entertainment value. I saw this just a minute ago on my phone and started LOLing

Speaking of entertainment value, I'm going to start a thread soon to outline the clown car Democratic primary for this seat. It's really...embarrassing. But now we can say hey look, your party had some crazy in its primary too.

EDIT: I should also note that PPP had Cornyn trailing "someone more conservative" 33/49.

They had him leading Gohmert 40/31 and trailing Perry 46/35 also. I'm interested to see a poll on Cornyn/Stockman, should be interesting. With the ~4 bit candidates also in the primary Cornyn's gonna have to invest some money or tack harder to the right to ensure there won't be a runoff.

I wonder if Cruz will ultimately step in.

According to the Politico article he withdrew from his district's primary, and couldn't run for both.

The filing deadline was 6p local time today. Of course someone could sue to get on the ballot, but I don't see either Castros or White or any Dem of significance doing that.

Cornyn's people are tweeting up a storm:

My favorite is that last one.

FreedomWorks was out with a "John Cornyn's 10 Worst Votes" post last night, so they're a possibility.

Ted Cruz didn't just come out of nowhere. He was given a lot of favorable press and built up, had excellent credentials as Solicitor and so forth as well as a top flight education. Dewhurst on the other hand was just lame, Martha Coakley style lame. It would be like Tom Cotton running against Thom Tillis in a primary.

It would actually be pretty interesting to write a piece comparing and contrasting Dewhurst and Coakley's attempts to rebuild after a failed election.

What they did with the "Y" in Cornyn is actually really nice.

That's about it.

He posted some tweets today that prompted me to ask if he is on meth. Hold on...

I read that too. I so wish I'd known he was in north Texas; if it were in DFW I probably would have gone for the LoLs

I'd be pretty offended if our media really did know that Rep Stockman was on an international trip and instead ran their "where is Stockman" pieces.

Stockman's twitter has been on fire today because of the debt ceiling vote in the Senate. I love it.

I posted this on the Texas megathread in Gubernatorial/Statewide. Forgot about this thread. Here's a crappy image of the mugshot

In the NE Tarrant Co. Tea Party endorsements, Stovall got 2 votes out of the six voting members. Stockman received the other 4. I expect him to get a strong showing too, which will probably in turn get him attention and help him when he runs for something else down the road.

Here's a second Stovall ad that compares McConnell to a cartoon turtle and features his golden retriever saying "I like turtle soup!" http://youtu.be/4EIMkxNhClQ
