I like this show and I've recently been able to pinpoint why.  It's a modern show where family characters help each other and put others before themselves as opposed to ridicule them down to punchlines like Family Guy and the modern sitcom do constantly.  It doesn't have to be snide to be funny and it's a refreshing change.

I think I know what you mean. It's more of a sitcom that happens to be animated, much like King of the Hill (which I think is the extremely underrated gold standard of animated sitcoms).

I mostly started watching it because I've tended to watch FOX's Sunday animated shows as a bloc, but I've been really impressed by the show in its own right.
