Who doesn’t get goosebumps when he appears, leading the Rohirrim before Minas Tirith at the break of dawn, gives his speech, and leads the charge into battle?

He acted out some of the most authentically human moments of the movie trilogy too. His son’s death. His moments with Eowyn. His personal moments of despair, sooner or later turning into courage.

I haven’t rewatched the Titanic nearly as much, but I can still clearly picture his stoicism and quiet sacrifice when he realizes what happened. A subtly powerful performance, at the opposite end than his LotR character, showing his acting range.

He seemed like a really nice guy too, and was still connecting with Lord of the Rings fans, had planned to see some of them with Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan and Sean Astin (the 4 Hobbit Actors) on the day he died.
