  The reason that Whitney ran so well in Winnebago County in the 2006 governor's race is because he was endorsed by the Rockford Register Star.
  I wish that there were a few other papers in the stat that would have had enough 'backbone' to endorse somebody who wasn't a Dem or Rep.  God knows a stir-up of the present political situation is needed.  Perhaps we will soon be saying 'Governor Quinn' but who knows.
