All these are complete guesses, but here goes:

A: Obama 55%/McCain 45%
B: Obama 59%/McCain 40% - working class white area in the Northeast
C: Obama 61%/McCain 39% - rural New England; I get the sense this is a trick to play upon the assumption that rural = Republican
D: Obama 60%/McCain  39%: the ugly McMansions give it the unmistakable look of Foreclosure Hell. Bush probably won this neighborhood by a similar margin in 2004.
E: tough to say, but looks like a suburb in the South: Obama 30%/ McCain 69%
F: Obama 52%/McCain 48%
G: Obama 35%/McCain 65%: Exurbia
H: so generic it could really be anything; it actually looks a lot like the neighborhood my family lived in when I was a kid. I'll say 45% Obama/55% McCain

What kind of precinct gave 10% to third parties?

Without knowing the part of the country such neighborhoods are in, and the demographics, in this diverse country of ours, this little guessing game is a dog who can't hunt.

OK I'll give a big hint: These are all in either Minnesota or North Dakota (out of easiness, since I can easily look up precincts and results from those states. It would be more interesting including other states, but meh, maybe I'll try that later.) And all are heavily white except one.

Cool. Well the treeless one is in ND, and you put it up before as some symbol of Pubbie sociopathy since it went heavily for McCain. The one with the small cute houses on a very tree lined street, looks like something more congenial to yourself (and to moi for that matter, but we don't need to go there).  Smiley

A:  55% McCain, 45% Obama
B.  66% Obama, 33% McCain if it's in a bigger city.  58/40 otherwise
C.  Tough to tell.  If it's in rural central Minnesota... maybe 52% McCain/46% Obama.  Northern Minnesota, flip those.
D.  59% McCain/40% Obama
E.  60% Obama/38% McCain
F.  53% Obama/45% McCain
G.  52% McCain/47% Obama
H.  54% Obama/44% McCain

It's hard to tell some of the older neighborhoods.. some look like Minneapolis or St. Paul... so much higher Obama... and some look more like older suburbs (no sidewalks) like Bloomington.. which would still tilt Obama.. but not hugely.

The exurban areas are strong McCain for sure while the more 80s looking burbs are certainly more evenly divided.  The rural areas is a tough call depending on where we're talking.  If these are all in Minnesota, I'd assume that's a rural area near the Twin Cities from the distinct lack of pine or spruce... which would be a dead giveaway for northern MN.

It's kinda funny... all of those look like they could be in Downriver Wayne county, and would be overwhelmingly for Obama.

You're too clever. The first is the wealthy part of my home town; it's probably only 65% Obama or so, but you got the general idea. The latter is Borough Park, Brooklyn and is around 90% McCain.

New test (useless hint: Both are in Queens).

Given the junk in the front yard and the sh**t on hanging from the tree (that is a real tree rather than a ersatz one isn't it, or is it?), with the hideous hurricane fence of the house in the first pic (and having a window air conditioner sitting right there in the front of the house almost as an architectual feature - oh dear!), that home cannot possibly have any Republicans in it, so I am going to guess that is the more Democratic neighborhood of the two.

Here are my answers:

A: It's a neighborhood in a far out exurb. 57-41 for McCain.
B: A heavily but not majority black neighborhood in south central Minneapolis. Over 90% for Obama.
C: South Bend Township, a rural area directly south of Mankato, MN. Narrowly won by Obama with less than 50% and essentially a tie.
D: A newly built neighborhood north of Bismarck, ND. The whole area was empty when I was in high school. 67-31 for McCain.
E: It's from Albert Lea, a working class town in southern Minnesota. 61% for Obama.
F: That's from Richfield, an older inner-ring suburb right south of Minneapolis. 65-33 for Obama
G: Becker, a far out exurb in the heart of Michele Bachmann-land. Just under 60% for McCain.
H: Stranger's comment is kind of ironic, since that IS where I grew up and my family still lives (well near it). Much older middle-class neighborhood in the heart of Bismarck, ND. 57-40 for McCain.

Well, since no one else is guessing... You two are totally wrong! The first one is Howard Beach, center of Irish and Italians in Queens and ~66% for McCain.* The second one is Springfield Gardens, a middle-class black neighborhood in far Southeast Queens, well over 90% for Obama.

Just shows that image (can) mean nothing.

*Other than the Rockaways, Howard Beach was the only appreciable concentration of McCain votes in Queens, which is generally much less geographically politically polarized than Brooklyn due to fewer blacks and fewer Russians/Italians/Orthodox Jews (as well as a lot more Reform Jews, Hispanics and Asians, who tend to all vote consistently 65-80% Democratic).
