Fair and open minded, as far as I can tell.

I don't always agree with your views, but you seem to have arrived at them quite reasonably, and can articulate them in an intelligent manner.  You also seem to be willing to consider opposing points of view.

Your overall demeanor and presentation, as well as your logic, get a thumbs up from me, whatever that is worth. Tongue

Number 2, but the endorsement for Paul Hackett was really pushing it to Number 1

Okay I'll try to add the noun.  :-)

Number 2, you are a liberal Democrat that is really a liberal Democrat.

I don't consider it bad to have an ideology.  You somebody that will look at arguments made from what I've seen.  Ah, that is a compliment.

The answers seem to exclude the possibility that a person can be partisan and fair at the same time.

I believe that a person can be both partisan and fair so long as the partisanship is essentially a byproduct of a consistent, logical and defensible political ideology.

As Republican as I am, I admit that the Republican ideology doesn't address every societal problem.  Every philosophy has blind spots, and people choose the philosophy that most closely resembles their own personal blind spots, generally.

So I don't think a moderate-to-liberal Democrat as you are, Nick, and one who consistently supports Democratic candidates, is necessarily overly partisan, and you are certainly not a hack.

I have to say I'm surprised by the results of the poll so far.

Im not really suprised by the results.  I know that I am partisan.  I think we all are to a certain extenet.  Alot of my posts are pro-democrat, but rarely do a I come out and attack Republicans.  When I came to this board I was probably a borderline hack, but since then I have really moderated my views.  I try to go into every thread and issue with an open mind.  Most of the time I come out on the Democratic side, but not all of the time.

I'm partisan too, and I usually come out on the Republican side of issues.  But though others may disagree, I don't think I'm a hack.

Maybe it's because you don't attack Republicans that I consider you fair and open-minded, despite your strong support for Democrats.  Mostly, I appreciate people of either dominant political philosophy who are able to debate issues reasonably without personal attacks.

You're a pretty loyal partisan Democrat but a long way off being a hack

Voted two, but you'd actually be somewhere between two and three.

Number 4 simply because there are alot worse than you. You're ideological, but not partisan.
