Did the straw poll victory really cause this much of a ripple? I've never seen the state of a race change this quickly.

Yes, this is perhaps the oddest day in polling history.  Ever.

Primary races change this quickly quite often in fact.  But usually not this many months out from the voting.

^^^^^^

2 answers for you!
1) GOP primary voters are paying more attention then they normally do
2) GOP primary voters are better connected given the role of the 24 hours news cycle and the internet

Expect this trend to continue in all primaries from here on out GOP and Dem.

In the Orlando Republican Presidential candidate debate, Rick Perry destroyed his candidacy.
Here’s the results of a recent CBS News Poll:

CBS News Poll. Sept. 28-Oct. 2, 2011. N=1,012 adults nationwide. Margin of error ± 3.

"Do you favor or oppose allowing the children of illegal immigrants to attend state college at the lower tuition rate of state residents?"

                              Favor          Oppose   Unsure
                                %               %               %
 9/28 - 10/2/11        25              68                7

But, among Republicans, the numbers are significantly less favorable to Perry’s position, with 10% of Republicans supporting and 86% opposing lower tuition rates for illegal immigrants.

NYT reported today that Cain has a total of 40 paid staffers, mostly in the South, and only 4 in Iowa.  gl

Not to be a broken record but imagine 3 years ago, if you saw this would be the field, the polls and could know each of these candidates' weaknesses.  Who would think Palin would possibly resist this opening?  That it was impossible for her to run shows how far she's plummeted as a conservative icon.

Would this be the same poll where CBC has Obama with a "break even" approval rating of 44/44..? - which is modestly different than other organizational have found?
