Where I live. Even though it hasn't voted D since 1964 and before that since 1856, it trended D more than any other county in the state in 2008 (though I doubt the trend will hold). Still, there's a ton of history, Lancaster City is improving (less of a s**thole than it used to be), and it's a fine place to raise a family. Freedom County.

The land of the fats, which unites all, be they live simply or not.

Wrong board I think for this by the way. Opinion of threads I think belong in Politico Debate, although I could be wrong.

It is trending D, therefore like the other "Opinion of County" threads it must be great!

Seriously, this sh*t is getting kind of old.

Sounds (and looks) pretty rural.  Thus, freedom county.

It's fantastic, I love it. I used to spend a lot of time out there when I was younger. Both my parents went to college there. It's overwhelmingly pleasant.

Flat, boring county with random Amish people. Meh. I'm not a fan of such counties.

Too boring for me, but I'll vote Freedom County due to this:

While were on the subject of Lancaster, there's a car that parks near where I work with several liberal bumper stickers and one that says:

I LOVE CITY LIFE
LANCASTER PENNSYLVANIA

Is this an inside joke, or something? Can any of the PAers explain this? Cause Lancaster is obviously not normally thought of when one thinks of city life, yet Lancaster is not small enough for the bumper sticker to be obviously ironic.
It's sincere. I saw it at a wedding in Lancaster and asked the bride about it.

Franklin & Marshall? I went to a summer camp there at one point.

Lets see who is from there.  Ahh, Bruce Sutter and Tom Herr, two of my favorite Cardinals from my youth.  Fulton (steamboat guy), Hershey (chocolate guy), Lt Winters (Band of Brothers guy) are all pretty cool...nobody really horrible, James Buchanan is close...some dude from The Bachelor.  Seems positive overall to me.  Covered bridges and Amish...what's not to like?  It's not fair to hold Snowstalker against them.

Interesting, as the nominee for Lancaster's CD (PA-16, Pitts) in 2004, 2006, and 2010 is Lois Herr. Perhaps they're related. Pitts is too conservative for PA-16. Lois Herr is great (I've heard her speak) but is too liberal to win PA-16.
