Question: Is there too much of a US Bias here?
#1
Of course, it IS the *US* election atlas after all!

#2
I don't see it, we cater to our international posters

Yes, I've got the same question. Do you mean the forum focuses too much on US topics? If you mean this, my answer is "no". As you wrote, it's the "US Election Atlas" after all, and there are many possibilities to discuss non-US topics.

Does the name "uselectionatlas.org" ring a bell?

Well it should.  This question is pretty much a gimme.  It's like asking what is the official language of America.  Well it's American!  Any five year old with down syndrome knows that!
What I'm saying is that the pesky little internationals shouldn't just accept the US Bias on here, they should learn it!  Or be deported.

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=131192.0 Like this for example. I'd love to work out how many Canadian ridings I've been in, but that's not the title of the thread.

So what? It's an American website. Go to another website if it bothers you.

Why would I quit the atlas because the title of a single thread bothers me?

You're the one making a big deal about it. We're not just gonna become "usandcanadaelectionatlas.org". Also, you're allowed to make a Canadian version of the thread if you want.

You should read my Announcement thread in Atlasia.

Hey Teddy, just curious, How many Canadian Ridings have you been in this year?
I live in York West. My doctor is in York South Weston. Earlier today I was in Lawrence Eglinton, so those for starters. The bus travels though York Centre. Pretty certain I've been to Trinity Spadina, St. Pauls, Toronto Centre, Toronto Danforth, Don Valley West, and Willowdale. Mississauga Brampton South, Bramlea Gore Malton, Brampton Springdale, Vaughan, Thornhill, and that's just a single bus ride. Barrie, Simcoe Grey, Simcoe North, York North-Simcoe, Oak Ridges Markham, and that's just one trip. That should cover the last 6 months, I'd have to think more for anything beyond that.

If you look at my most recent post in that thread, I did both.

Of course it is, as others have said, it's a US elections message board.  But no need to worry, there is a decent sized group here that hates the US and everything related to it to keep us balanced and laughing.

Oh for f**k's sake. Plenty of people have put in foreign electoral districts in that thread. If you're that bothered just PM muon or whoever makes it next year to add something like "or foreign equivalent" in the thread title.

There are the obvious ones, opebo and MiamiU are the most active, but there are others.  Several of the Euros certainly have a bit of a knee jerk reaction against anything positive being said about the US, but I get those guys confused.  And there are several more American posters that, while not as knee jerky about it, seem to not like the US much...I'm thinking of Eraserhead and the dude from Idaho here.

Roll Eyes  Only a Canadian would worry about this.

Yes, of course this website has an American bias.  And it's hardly too much.  We barely put up with you Canadians foreigners.

Mint also deserves an honorary mention.

To clarify I come off as more strongly anti-American than I actually am: I'm decidedly unpatriotic but I still like large aspects of our culture and image. There are only a select handful of nations that I'd rather live in than the US (Canada, New Zealand, maybe Australia, maybe the Netherlands and maybe the UK).

We have a U.S. bias.  But I don't think it's too much.

For a U.S. election website, we have a lot of International knowledge.

America is made stronger by its detractors. They educate us, causing us to ponder about what is just tripe, what is about choices based on a reasonable set of values, and what maybe has some validity - sometimes. So many little judgment calls to make for each of us. Bless them, each and every one, including that "knee jerk" one, opebo. St. Louis v almost anywhere in Thailand is not a difficult choice. Smiley

Myself, and this is just my provincial bias, but I have had a life long love affair with America. It has just been, and continues to go along, this rather incredible, larger than life, journey through history, due to an extremely odd set of circumstances, when you come to think of it - both biological and political.
