...the audience is not supposed to cheer/boo, much like the debate tonight. And the debates with Obama are not populated by an audience of Fox News followers. What am I getting at? Gingrich is obviously not much of a debater without his Fox News groupies causing a distortion in perception. He could not be more flat than he is tonight. Chris Dodd had more charisma.

Let's face it: Gingrich is just an angry, old fat man who was thrown out of the House in disgrace, Nixon-style. Nobody pays somebody $1.6 million to be a historian, especially not in Washington, DC. Who does he think he's fooling? There is a reason why none of his colleagues are speaking on his behalf.

Romney has the same debating style as Hillary Clinton, who actually beat Obama in the popular vote. Romney can do enough to win.

And who was the nominee? Wink

Yeah, I'll never understand how the Clinton campaign apparently did not know that California was not winner-take-all. With that said, my point is this: Romney debates like Clinton, who did well enough to beat Obama in the popular vote and even won the last state to vote. Romney is not the greatest speaker on the planet, but he is good enough to beat Obama by virtue of beating expectations. Plus, once the issue is solely the economy, you have to admit Romney knows how to debate that issue more than any other. He can do enough to clobber Obama on the economy.

Yes Politico, Obama would handily defeat Mitt and Newt in a debate. No need to make a thread about it.

I think there needs to be a thread dedicated to the fact that Newt is not going to get momentum in debates with Obama. A lot of supporters of Newt think he will win the presidency by debating Obama. In real debates, Fox News groupies are not allowed to hoot and holler after every response. That is the only reason why Gingrich appeared to be a good debater last week. It created a distortion in our perception.

I think we need to discuss what the real presidential debates with Obama are going to be like. They are going to be like this, not like the Fox News groupie sessions Gingrich has benefited from in the past.

This is not an attack thread on Gingrich.

Really?  From the first post in this thread:

Gingrich is obviously not much of a debater without his Fox News groupies causing a distortion in perception. He could not be more flat than he is tonight. John Kerry had more charisma.

You need to end your delusions of believing that your posts are anything more than slight variations on a theme of 'Romney = awesome, Gingrich = EVIL'.  You have your own thread, you should stick to it.

I think this should be an exception. A lot of people say that Gingrich's HUGE asset is that he will be able to out-debate Obama. That is just not so, as we witnessed tonight. We need a serious discussion about this. I think people are forgetting what real debates look like.

Because his arguments are like what FallenMorgan reduces him to, viz, childish.

Correct me if I am wrong, but did I ever request that all of your Huntsmentum material be shoved into one thread? No, of course not.

Politico has his own thread because many posters, including Politico himself, requested it. Without it, his threads tended to clog up the front page here. And it's not a quarantine zone or whatever, it's basically a miniblog just for him. Everyone still reads it.

I'll let this thread stand because it kinda raises a nominally different point (I mean, imagine Ron Paul debating Obama, trololo) but also for the sake that it would make the last couple of pages in the megathread way too confusing to read. In the future, Politico, please use your thread for it's intended purpose. Smiley

Will do, boss. I just worry that nobody will read it, especially new-timers who are intimidated by the size of the thread.
