Yeah, I'm getting the same impression as Xahar here.
As for the bonus questions, I would describe the arrangement as being neo-mercantilist and corporatist. Capitalist and fascist are too strong of words to use here but the latter would be closer to the mark than the former.
The price at the pump is irrelevant to me. Cheap gasoline would discourage the development of cleaner energy sources, typical prices would leave me wondering what the purpose of the state-business cooperation is aside from the former being eerily nationalist, and high prices would just entrench my current opinion that it is undesirable for the state to distort markets in an attempt to give preferential terms of trade to Americans.
Isn't the need for
cheap affordable high quality gas and cheap/free contraception's, sterilities and abortion the same? I suppose with more auto's in park would give way for the need of the latter, makes sense.
I was thinking the purpose was to stimulate taxation, the old fashion way. Going green has produced debt and waste with no true equity to counter - no increase in the standard of living - only more poverty in need of food stamps. If going green ever is to be practical, it will mature by way of greed – one of the three sizzles of life. So meanwhile,
make the most of what we know for the most. I realize that simplicity sucks for some, it actually works in most cases though. As for what I would call it... survival for all.
