Don't get me started about the flag burning Amendment. The idea that such monstrosity almost passed always makes me shudder.

Sure, there are other countries that constitutionally ban gay marriage (such as Poland and Bolivia).  However, those countries don't necessarily portray themselves as beacons of individual liberty.

But even Bolivia's current constitution prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity (I guess except for the right to get married, eh? Seems inconsistent.).

However, basically everything under the sun - laws, declarations of ideals, what have you - is part of the Bolivian constitution, so the inclusion of something there isn't nearly as permanent as it would be were it in the U.S. constitution.

But, yes, point taken.

DOMA is just another result of Bill Clinton's 6 years of shameless pandering to remain popular. He may just be the most overrated Democratic President ever.

It's been just over 15 years (17, to be precise).  The sea change is utterly unbelievable.
