Why can't churches and other charities get in on this? I think this is a great idea.

Anyone who tricks people into owing money again and plays on their ignorance should be sent to prison*.

Because they are funded by the same corporations which are claiming debt?

Most small town churches are not bought and paid for by the banks. Maybe the bigger mega churches, on the other hand....

Not bought, but you know, here we have banks and corporations giving money to charities and churches for things like repairing the roof or whatever.

a nice symbolic gesture, and no objections here, but this will not make a dent in the private debt problem.

Seems ineffective.  And, if you have an ideological bent against debt collectors and banks, this isn't such a blow to them.  They want to get paid back.

What they should do is hire some lawyers to defend consumer debtors in court or file class action lawsuits.

The Fed can eliminate all this nonsense with a few keystrokes at the money-generating computer.
