My State Senator - Mike Stack - is saying he's running. An official announcement is expected within a month.

Tentative for Schwartz. That's on name recognition and "electability." Truth is, I will only support the Democrat, I don't care who it is, and I will vote. On this I am, blank-D. Whoever. I wish it were Sestak - I think it's a big gamble to wait a couple years and try to unseat Toomey, but I guess he knows more than I do. And it could be that he just wants the Senate seat and it's not a calculated move.

Hopefully someone else (though I'd support basically anyone over Corbett).

Schwartz... For the nomination. For the General anyone but Corbett (yes even another Republican is fair game.)

This may sound like a stupid question, but what has Corbett done that makes him any different from a generic Republican governor?  Is it the electoral vote plan that makes him stand out above the rest?

Other than the whole cutting education stuff, while Attorney General (which was during the 2010 campaign) he deliberately neglected to investigate the Penn State molestation scandals, presumably so as to avoid upsetting Penn State alumni who he hoped to win the votes of.

Yep, this. The education cuts have been absolutely devastating.

Well, in addition to Snowstalker's points, older people here are a very large demographic, and they tend to be conservative blue collar types. Generally, something that really riled them has been Corbett's tendency to take his privatization schtick really too far. The lottery privatization riled them significantly, but so did the tollroad / highway privatization plan. Opinion on the alcohol privatization has been interesting: people are broadly for the concept - as am I, but as they started to become familiar withy Corbett's particular plan for it, approval of it started to fall off. It's about Corbett and his buddies making a fast buck at the state's expense, as is everything he comes up with.
