New president (with reduced powers) will be elected by the Electoral College (joint sitting of the National Assembly, Senate, and State Assemblies) on July 30.

Victory of the PML-N candidate, former Sindh Governor Mamnoon Hussain, is all but assured. Hussain is a Muhaji and a free market ideologue.

The PPP nominated Sindh Senator Raza Rabbani but then decided to boycott for sort of BS-y reasons.

The Awami National Party and the Balochistan National Party are also boycotting.

PTI nominated former Chief Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed, who was a candidate against Musharraf in 2007.

JI will also back Wajihuddin Ahmed.
