Chair: Senator TNF (Lab-KS)

Members: Senator Gass3268 (Lab-WI), Vacant

I suppose we're ready to get to work. My apologies for taking so long to set up the committee thread, comrades. We will now conduct the business of the Internal Affairs committee, although we are currently one member short owing to the resignation of Senator Scott. Perhaps one of our incoming Senators shall take his spot, or we shall have another Senator declare for the Internal Affairs committee?

As always, the Committee is open for questions and concerns from members of the Senate, the Secretariat, the President and Vice President, and the People.

Now it's finally open. May I say that I'm glad that to work with both of the Senators that voted against my Confirmation. I honestly hope that we can make a great job together! =)

I have no doubts that we will be able to work together on the most vital of issues facing our Republic, Mr. Secretary.

Now that what is what I call an incentive to produce. Tongue

And people say the Committees are worthless. Wink

So what is on the agenda first Mr. Chairman?

Might I recommend going through some of your own legilsation on the workplace regulations and so forth, Mr. Chairman. It would provide an opportunity to refine, get feedback from the SoIA and GM etc, and maybe even consolidate some of them if practical. What you say?

That sounds like an idea worth looking into. I'll first bring up my proposed Amendment to the Labor Rights Act, which would, in essence, ban striking workers from being replaced by strikebreakers.

Here is an idea. In order to gauge potential problems you might also want to consider bringing in someone hostile to the proposal to make the case against it. Kind of like how the SCOTUS brought in someone to make the case for the mandate being a tax when neither side had done so themselves. Just a thought.

Looking for someone to advocate against the proposal. I asked Governor Maxwell, but he said he didn't have as many problems with that one, so I'm thinking about moving on to a consolidation of some of my existing legislative proposals instead, unless you or any of our friends to my right would like to offer some constructive criticism of the amendment in question.

Unless someone can make an economic argument as to why doing so is bad or one from the perspective of a certain business, industry or field shall we say, then I am fine with it. My concern would be that if you have a certain critical field necessary for public safety, maybe an exception for that field would be necessary but I don't know what those would be though. Hence my recommendation to find someone in opposition who could possible expose such an instance.

In the absence of finding such, you may proceed onto whatever topic you can gather a majority of the committee to support. My only concern is that there is a topic, and that it is being actively considered, not what that is.

When superique gets back, I would recommend having both him and Griffin come up here to review these legislative iniatives and provide any cost reports and so forth, so that we don't get a delay on the floor over that.

Sounds like a plan, Senator. I'll make sure to send them both PMs concerning this legislation.

Which would you want first, if an "out of order" opportunity came about to bring one to the floor, Senator?

The Paid Leave Act would be my biggest priority, Senator.

It looks like one of the first five slots got the first dibs at your work instead.

Of the two posted? Probably the Paid Leave Act.

I'll see about getting that into the PPT slot when it frees up. Thoguh if two other of your bills make it to the floor through regular order like the Labor Rights one just did, you will hit the clogging rule.

Considering we are baiscally at a whole bevy of your stuff (Nappy and I each have one and then we are at the rest of the stuff you introduced early last month), which means you gonna have bills potentially coming on the floor at any point once two more finish, I would recommend getting the input from the GM and SoIA where needed as soon as possible.
