He's not retiring.

No, but given West Virginia's hard shift right and Moore Capito expected blowout win , he's in deep trouble.

Just like Romney's blowout win dragging Snuffer to victory in 2012?

Obama's popularity in the state has only gotten worse since 2012

He's got a challenger in St. Rep. Evan Jenkins, who switched parties from Dem to Pub today.

Is there any other way? I guess he's really counting on being pulled in by SMC's coattails.

You'll know they're yellow-dogs if they vote against a saint.

No, but it seems kinda disingenuous. He's attacking "Democrat Nick Rahall" when he himself was a Democrat at this time last week.

Agreed, such are the problems with defectors. Cook has switched this from Likely to Lean D, BTW.

Wait, he's criticizing Nick Rahall for voting for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker when he never has.

This is a democracy where individuals are free to vote for whatever candidate they choose for reasons of their own, or none at all. Candidate Evan Jenkins is perfectly free to run on the platform of being a vote against Pelosi rather than a vote for Pelosi. The folks in Southern West Virginia are free to vote for him for exactly that reason, vote against him for exactly that reason, or ignore issue entirely.

You're missing the point (well, I guess which really isn't out of the ordinary). I was going more for Jenkin's semantics. He's already trying to tie Democrat Rahall to the Democratic Party as much as possible; if we were discussing WV legislators just a few days ago, we'd be talking about Democrat Evan Jenkins.

No, Miles, I didn't miss your point because you simply don't have a point. You are simply wrong in claiming that Jenkins is "trying to tie Democrat Rahall to the Democratic Party," when in fact he is trying to tie Rahall to Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.

I can't see Jenkins making it through a primary. If he does, I can't see Jenkins making it. I think its too see through. Turnout matters, will Republicans really turn out for a guy who donated to the other guy?

Well the R bench in WV is so thin that this is one of the states were you could get away with a party switch.
