This was a comment left on Watts Up With That by Dr. Robert G. Brown of Duke University

This summarizes very well the similar approaches that government has taken in both climate science and the war on drugs.

In climate science they do it by compiling data and keeping a lock on the data.  It has been nearly impossible for people to get their hands on the temperature data from the various weather stations around the globe.  Climate scientists have thrown out every possible excuse and have even gone as far as to shred the data in order to keep from sharing it with skeptics who want to independently verify their work.

So when you hear something like "97% of climate scientists agree with the consensus position of climate change"... call bullsh**t.  Because chances are, the guy who wrote the blurb above is also in that 97%.

The carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have increased astronomically since the scheduling system was implemented.

I say we declare this correlation to be causation.

Very good post.

In regards to the relationship between both, yes there has been a fair amount of government manipulation in both cases. The facts have been distorted and the public lied to for nearly a century in the case of weed, and nearly 2 decades in the case of global warming.
