Cruz has 26 million Texans behind him, plus the Constitution and at least 30-40 influential House members.

I'm glad someone succinctly defined why he doesn't care.  Thanks, b33 Smiley

Cruz has at least 200 House members behind him. The media driven narrative that the GOP has been overtaken by a small faction is nonsense.

Cruz didn't come to Washington hoping to be popular there.  He's a demagogue, his entire act necessitates him being a bull in a china shop and messing things up.  Of course the other Republicans hate him, he's making points to advance his career at their collective expense.  Doesn't change the fact that, at the moment, he's more influential than any other Republican in the Senate, including McConnell.

Cruz is Speaker of the House now, he couldn't care less about his Senate stature at this point.

Because they all vote for things like privatizing Social Security, turning Medicare into a voucher program, threatening to shut down the gov't at every opportunity. They all do this. Not a renegade few. All of them. As to why they're such awful people, I have no idea. Maybe their mommies didn't love them very much and this is their way of lashing out.

It's funny how influence in the Senate has been turned on its head. When the Senate actually passed laws, influence was measured in your ability to get things done. But now that the federal government can't pass any laws, relationships don't matter, and being the chief polarizer who can drive the media is what makes you most important.

On this issue, I would probably turn against Ted Cruz too.
