ObamaCare was a kiddie band-aid on an artery wound.

Single-payer was always the right thing to do. Which is why it was off the table immediately. Tongue

It seems that ObamaCare is being blamed a lot for this. While no doubt ObamaCare isn't entirely blameless (the "Cadillac Plan" tax may have caused some cuts in benefits), I imagine it does make for a convenient scapegoat to deflect blame.

at best the PPACA slows down the rate of the rate of increase of how bad the US healthcare system is.

While the ACA isn't perfect, it objectively makes health care in this country much better. It does far more than slow downthe worsening.

While I still think the ACA will be good for Americans in the long run, it has had almost the worst rollout that anyone could have ever dreamt.  I don't think even the staunchest Republican opponents of the ACA could have envisioned this bad of a rollout.  I sincerely hope, and I believe, it will get better as we get into it a little deeper as we are technically only 9 days into the ACA being effective.

Of course, I say this as one who is exempt from ObamaCare thanks to my Native American Health Care.  Although, I am watching the news closely in case Secretary Sebelius decides to eliminate that exemption.

Which is funny, because Republican efforts to sabotage the ACA by refusing to set up their own state exchanges are part of the reason why the rollout went so poorly.

Have they released any demographic data on the ACA enrollees?  There better be some youngs and healthies in the pool or it's going to turn toxic.

Are we talking about the same ACA that has been prohibiting discrimination on the basis of pre-existing conditions?  The 'worst rollout' that could be imagined does not include providing medical care to people who have been denied for their lives.

Have they released any demographic data on the ACA enrollees?  There better be some youngs and healthies in the pool or it's going to turn toxic.

I don't have the answer to your question, but the provision allowing parents to keep their children insured until age 26 guarantees that young and healthy people have entered / remained in the pool.

No one is "exempt" from Obamacare.  Do you mean that since you already have insurance through your tribe, you didn't have to worry about buying it on the exchanges?  If so, then you're in the same boat as the majority of Americans.  Your insurance still has to meet the minimum value, non-discrimination, and essential health benefit requirements of the ACA, though.

I'm not sure that alone is enough evidence, but I hope CMS releases real data soon.
