Economists disagree whether the Chinese economy will grow bigger than its US equivalent this year, or whether it will happen in 2015. A minority of economists probably think it might happen no sooner than in 2016 as well. In any case, you can hardly find a single economist who does not  think that the Chinese economy will outgrow the US economy in the near future. Is this really a scary thought, or should we rather embrace it and praise us lucky for it? Does a stronger Chinese economy basically means that everyone is/will be better off, inside as well as outside of China?

It's certainly nothing to worry about.  Unless you live in or near China.

I think it's a good thing - hopefully bringing more people out of poverty. Unfortunately, with a gini coeffecient as high as china's, likely a huge chunk of the gains are going to the top bracket. And that's the consequence of their "economic growth at all costs" method of governance.

In terms of policy with us, it's worrisome considering their dealings with Russia, but not too worrisome. Per Capita they are still lower than us, and that will be that way for a long time.
