I am Sawx. This is my opponent, Barnes. Ask us anything about the governor's race.

What as Governors would you do against the very immediate thread posted by (former) Senator Deus' independence movement that currently controls Vermont and large parts of it's surrounding areas, and is fighting for control of Albany?

They aren't in open revolution yet - just a few rallies in Vermont. I have full faith that Snowstalker and Simfan's rebellions will be defeated so that there is no need for secession.

These developments, of course, are alarming. While my personal residence is unaffected, my winter house is on the edge of secessionist control, and I strongly encourage the Northeast Secessionist Movement to lay down their arms.

I second Sawx's invitation for questions.  We agreed to hold this forum so that we can ameliorate somewhat the negative campaigning that has defined so many parts of Atlasia recently.

The developments in Vermont are both alarming and deeply troubling.  I am confident that this issue can be quickly resolved by the Governor and the President; I have faith in the both of them to do so.

1) I think the Northeast legislature has been overlegislating as of late. I feel that a lot of the issues addressed fall under the jurisdiction of municipalities or have basis in American current events but not Atlasian. Do you feel similarly? If so, what laws or bills do you see falling in this category? What action, if any, will you take to remedy this as Governor?

2) What are your thoughts on my magnificent legacy?

1. I feel as if the Assembly's actions are necessary. I believe that it is the responsibility of the regional government to protect our personal liberties, and if the municipal government wants to infringe on them, then that's where my fellow representatives and I will step in.

2. You've done a great job and should never have been dismissed as GM.

1. The idea that an assembly can "over-legislate" is rather absurd.  We must encourage activity within our regional government as much as possible.  I hope that such activity will be productive, constructive, and on serious and relevant issues.  The concept of municipal government in Atlasia as a playable aspect of the game does not and will almost certainly never exist.   I have said repeatedly  that I will strive to maintain regional activity as much as possible.

I too wish to be an active governor.  I will propose a large number of bills, as well as the regional budget, upon taking office, I will not hesitate to issue a veto on bill with which I disagree, and I will exercise my executive functions as applicable in addressing the issues of the region.

2. I'll leave that to you to postulate on.

Barnes, there is overlegislating. If the Assembly legislated how many lollipops a five year old can hold at once...

If you must force this, so be it...

How would you even qualify your claim to begin with?  What constitutes over-legislating in a game that can only legislate?  There is no real-world with which we can institute our legislation.

Secondly, what possible solution could there be to such a thing?  Ban member from introducing legislation?  A monthly cap on bills?  I mean, that really just smacks in the face of this being a game, for people to play.

I've already said that I will veto any bill that I disapprove of, such is my prerogative as governor.  Of course I want the legislation debated in the Assembly to focus on important and relevant issues, but aside from asking them to do such, what else could a governor possibly do?

I mean, really, where can this question lead to?  We can all pretend that there is a municipal layer of government working like worker bees if we so wish, but it isn't there, and if we would like to legislate for something in this region, the only possible way to do it would be through the assembly.

What is your opinion on our legislature's shameful decision to legalize and encourage incest for some reason?

Barnes, would you support DemPGH if he was the Labor nominee in the October presidential?

Seeing as I wasn't able to vote in the June election, I'm glad you didn't ask the whole "with hindsight..." Grin

I like Dem very much as a person, but the past week or two have been very harmful to the game, and I wouldn't be able to give him my support in the election if he was a candidate.

The question in itself is a redundant one, however.  I am enthusiastically behind Morokai and Antonio, both of whom I have worked with for over five years in the game, and who I know will be a fantastic pair in the White House.

I'd like to welcome Winfield to this race and extend an invite to our candidate's forum to him. Hopefully Barnes doesn't mind.
