Republican State Senator Margaret Sitte sponsored the Personhood Amendment and she got crushed 58%-41% by Democratic-NPL candidate Erin Oban in a 60-38 Romney district.

Glorious news!

Low turnout can do wonders for Democrats, too.

So the North Dakota House stayed the same, but the Dems gained two Senate seats?

Yeah, I think that's how it turned out.

Wow, looks like they could even sustain a hypothetical governor's vetoes now!

Her district is basically the north side of Bismarck full of rich people in recently built ugly and tacky houses. Not really the best candidate for such an area.

Besides the personhood amendment, Sitte was just awful all around. She's like a parody of social conservatives.

She voted against a bill requiring caretakers to notify the police when a child goes missing because "Jesus went missing for 3 days"

The people who voted in the Iowa and Colorado Senate races didn't get the message.

Good. Something for Republicans to think. After all - North Dakota is generally conservative and generally Republican. But, it turns out, even such states dislike an idiots.

I was wondering what happened in the state senate. It went from >70% of seats R to <70% of seats R.

She's going places.

I always imagined her as a Kent Conrad 2.0 or a Byron Dorgan 2.0 and just be in the Senate forever as a solid, popular senator.

Dorgon and Conrad weren't the Senate forever, but they did make a mark.

The D candidate against Grimm was a disaster though.

Making a couple of gaffes isn't an excuse for voting an indicted bully.

You're also acting like the people of Staten Island have sense.

Yeah but even John Stewart pocked fun at Reechia.

With that said Grimm isn't guilty yet.

Yeah but North Dakota is a little more "Moderate" than "Conservative". According to Gallup "Moderates" make up 44% of North Dakota's electorate when compared to 37% of their electorate who describe themselves as "Conservative".

I think that's how Dorgan and Conrad  kept on getting elected due to the "Moderate Tilt" of the state idealogy wise.

Sure, but Recchia wasn't just making a couple of gaffes - he barely knew anything.
