Can't hurt Rand at least. Cruz/Trump supporters are practically interchangeable and Paul has already attacked Trump viciously. Paul will likely stay at 2-4% in the polls.

Gotta give a little credit to Paul for this, because he's right about Cruz.

Absolutely nothing compared to Donald Trump. Paul probably doesn't even know how to golf, what a loser.

I'm positive about 20-40 percent of Trump supporters are Rand supporters who jumped ship because Trump talked the way those crazies talked

This is exactly what happened to my older brother so you're probably right. I can see a few Ron Paul supporters having switched to Bernie (seems like a good portion of Reddit loved Paul in 2012 and now Reddit has a giant Sanders boner, so I'd imagine there was some crossover support)

I empty-quote this as a Paul supporter. While Cruz's histrionics are grating even for me, all Paul's Quislingesque overtures toward McConnell have gotten him is a worthless nominal endorsement and slightly better speaking time for his meaningless filibusters. Paul's father was capable of balancing decorum and dignity, a skill that evidently is not genetic.

No, Cruz has. Cruz has had a big impact as well, which is why I think this was a stupid attack for Paul to do.

Paul basically ended the Patriot Act as we know it.

Rand is exactly right. The only impact Cruz has in the Senate is a negative one. He must be the most ineffectual Senator in the body. And questioning other people's motives when yours are so clearly themselves questionable, is the ultimate in obnoxious chutzpah.

I was under the impression that the Republican base hates "big government" so much that they don't want anything to be done in Congress?

Any credit given to Rand for this is humorous. He's engaged in similar tactics in the past and is now hanging his tea nut buddy out to dry as it took him this long to realize that the strategy is one of failure.

Okay Rand just commit suicide here.  What next?  He going after Carson??

The only proper punching bag in this election that most voters are okay for him to go after is Bush.

Despite Cruz's place in the poll, this guy is still very likable among a large GOP population.

Wonder if Paul knew this was coming when he made the comments mentioned in the OP:

More proof that Ron Paul's support was 95% based on his tone rather than his issues. R.I.P. Rand, depressing to see his support going to Ted Cruz the Lord of Darkness.

To me it doesnt make sense why any libertarian would support Cruz as a first choice over Paul.

Who could have known that making drugs/prison reform and a dovish foreign policy your standout issues would destroy your credibility with the GOP base?

The fact that he gets nothing done and tries to bring things to a grinding halt are the only reasons I want Cruz in the Senate. His greatness lies in his inability to accomplish anything. Can you imagine how much worse it would be if Texas had another John Cornyn? This is why he needs to stay in the Senate. That and I don't want him any where near having control of the military
