I'm not the best at giving these things, but I have something to say and well here it goes...

*cough*

Recently, the Republic of Atlasia has expressed interest in opening international, or in this case "internetional," relations with other forum-based nations.  I am a strong believer in such a policy and it will certainly add realism to the game.  If elected, my administration will fully support diplomacy with these independent states.

I do not believe, however, that we should open up relations at first glance as we may have with some "real-world" nations.  A King administration will enact a simple five-step, no nonsense policy when choosing to begin diplomacy with another forum or not:

Step One.  If a nation of interest is discovered, I will immediately call a meeting between my Secretaries of State and Defense.  I will instruct the two to observe the nation over a period of 1-2 weeks to collect information on the political, economic, and military structure of the nation.

Step Two.  After the two-week period has passed, I will collect the findings of my two aids and decide, based on the facts, whether to proceed with the study.

Step Three.  If I conclude that relations are in-fact just and necessary, I will then submit a resolution to the Senate granting me the power of appoint an envoy sized at my discretion to this nation.  The envoy shall announce themselves to the nation and begin talks with that nation's director of foreign relations, whoever that may be.

Step Four.  If the envoy returns with news of interest by the involved nation, then a final meeting shall be set up between the nation's leader and I involving final details and a general photo-op. Wink

Finally, I will submit a second and final resolution to the Senate to open partial or full diplomatic relations with the nation and establish an embassy in Nyman.
    [/list]

It is my strong belief that such a policy will be the quickest and most accurate way to decide the ultimate friend or foe before it is too late.

We are on the verge of opening Atlasia's doors to a new world of different governments and people.  For the sake of our economy, our military, and our future, we must step forward an effort.  It is crucial that we preserve our stance as the defender of democracy and champion of freedom.  And that is what YOU will get with a King presidency!

Thank you for your time.  May Dave and the god of YOUR CHOICE bless you and all the parts of Atlasia! Smiley

Oh, and please feel free to grab some refreshments and brochures on your way out!  Wink

I must agree with Senator Spade.  I like that the candidate is tackling tough issue like this.

I can't vote for you King.  I just don't like the idea of these micronations actually being factored into the game engine.  It's too complicated and unrealistic.  It would spoil everything.

Establish an embassy in Nyman? What would we want to establish an embassy in Nyman for? Don't you mean allow them to establish an embassy in Nyman?

What is so bad about it?  It insures we are allies with a nation that shares our beliefs and not another Uzbekistan.  We would know nearly everything there is to know about the nation.

What would you do?  Just say, "Hey you are based in Australia! Join us!" Huh

Sorry, I do mean allow them.

Whilst I don't understand your reasoning, I am sorry to hear that.

See, this is why giving speeches that include any concrete detail whatsoever is a bad idea. Tongue
