Stop worrying, McConnell. Kentucky isn't electing a democrat to the Senate over an incumbent, and there is no notable republican who would be disrespectful enough to primary Paul.

I don't know why the establishment makes up these fake concerns to try and get Paul out of the race. That senate seat will not go Democratic unless Jesus comes back from heaven to endorse the Democratic nominee.

The Senate maybe lost to McConnell, but KY is likely R anyways.

Ds haven't carried Kentucky U.S. Senate since Bill Clinton won the state with his first election back in 1992.

It doesn't matter what Rand Paul does.

Paul doesn't need to focus on his Senate campaign, because he is a shoo-in for the seat.  Democrats can't win it, and no Republican has the guts to launch a primary challenge.

Has any Democrat even mused about running?

This is power play to deter Adam Edelen; the strongest Dem; similar to Ted Strickland, from running should there be an open seat. Greg Fischer is also thinking about running. But Dems should field Adam Edelen regardless if Paul runs. You never know. Like Ted Strickland upsetting Portman.

I don't think Edelen wins at all but this is about money & resources. The NRSC can't afford to be spending a dime on KY while their defending all those other seats. If Paul is broke by the time he drops out and Edelen has a significant CoH advantage like the Bevin/Conway situation then it could be a close race.

I love how some people on this site truly believe they are more intelligent then campaign strategists. It is their job to ensure nothing goes wrong. Even in a safe R state like Kentucky. It's better to be safe then sorry.

Rand Paul needs to make a decision: white house or senate. you don't get to do both.

Could a Conway win provide good cover for Paul to drop out? He could be like "I have a duty to stay in Congress and not let communist Conway choose my replacement if I'm elected..."

Adam Edelen, Jack Conway, Steve Beshear, and Alison Lundergan Grimes should run for Rand Paul's seat in 2016.

Yeah.  I think all Paul needs is a website and an R next to his name next year at this point.  He would probably still win if his only spending were the filing fees!

True, as long as he doesn't go completely senile like Bunning, he'll win handily.

Edelen, as I said before can run in 2016, because Trump is a very weak R nominee. But, will run in 2020, because it gives him a chance to build up his resume. At least he won, so he can run in 2020.

After Conway, Edelen is the nxt rising star. But, he may run for gov in 2019.

Edelen just lost reelection. He's no rising star anymore.

Dems arent going to invest in this race, they got to get Strickland elected, not to mention Katie McGinty and CCM. Dems can win Senate without it, even before KY results. LA, and Pa arent KY.

The real bellweather were the Pa results, which GOP got crushed at ballot box, doesnt bold well for,Toomey.
