Congress set to dump No Child Left Behind:
The House is expected to pass a bill that would dismantle key elements of the Bush-era law.

Unexpected, but pleasant, surprise.

I still fail to understand why uniform testing is necessary. It just causes teachers to teach to the test and not actually teach children skills.

Do it and get rid of Common Core while you're at it. The federal government has no idea how to properly handle education standards for all 50 states.

Nor are they Constitutionally eligible to do

Damn, that's quite an overwhelming majority.  More than enough to override a veto if the Senate votes similarly.

The government shouldn't be in education on the federal level, for the most part.

Senate passes the NCLB reform bill 85 to 12, and sends it to the White House for an all but certain signature:

I've been working with schools as clients and you have no idea how out of touch big government is with what's going on these days.  State and local governments should handle education.  It's easy to use kids in ads and sway Democrats but in reality it's a scam.  All you ever hear from the left is "more pay for teachers" and "free college for everyone."  What are we going to do when every American has a college degree, but there aren't enough jobs like how now there's not enough jobs for all college graduates.  Not all jobs require degrees.  The end result is having a large number of graduates with debt and no means to pay it off.  That's when the left comes in with empty promises of raising taxes on those with more income in order to bail out those who didn't get a job in their field.  The fact of the matter is that you can have all the college education in the world, but without the social skills necessary you'll never make it anywhere.
