Cruz urges supporters to awaken the body of Christ

So AP claims. Is that theologically correct? Is Christ's body asleep? I thought it was awake in heaven. Does that suggest Cruz is himself divine? Color me confused.

1 Corinthians 12:27 describes the Church as "the body of Christ."  Understood in this way, it seems quite clear that Cruz is simply using similar language to encourage Christians to turnout and support him in the caucuses.

This much wouldn't be lost on anybody with more than a passing familiarity with the New Testament.
