I'm not entirely clear on where he stands on most issues since his shift in faith. I don't think that counts as confusion though, just lack of knowledge on my part.

Not really. It's basically the same but with less bombast.

This, and it would be helpful to know what exactly it is.

No, it's mostly the old one toned down and given a more open mind. Far as I gather

Very confused, I'm not quite so sure what his positions are at this time.

He used to be an evangelical conservative.  Now, he's kind of like Trump?

I prefer "persona" to "ideology", but yes, though I don't give it much thought.

Less confusing than the old one, that's for sure.

I'm basically a pretty standard conservative, with a bit of a Trump twang to it (though I am skeptical of his nomination at this point, for electability reasons).

I have become a bit more liberal on religious social issues (like abortion and same sex marriage)....I'm still no fan of either, but I'm not as ardently opposed to them as I once was.   On the flip side, when it comes to other issues, especially immigration, criminal justice, social welfare spending, and policing, I've probably shifted further right, and I am very, very conservative on those issues.

For the most part though, it's not like I've dramatically changed on all my positions.  I've mellowed out a bit (though I can fly off the handle at times, as seen in the tax thread), however, but I'm definitely no liberal.

Personally, the term I like is "reactionary."  I'm no fan of where the country's headed or many of society's new ideas.  Secular progressivism and SJW liberalism are absolutely repellant to me, just as they were when I was more religious.  The biggest difference, frankly, is that I don't really use the Bible as the justification for why I believe what I believe - I just believe it because that's what I think - the Bible says to "ask for the old paths and walk therein" (Jeremiah 6)- even if that's not divinely inspired, I think that is a great guide for how the country should be run - just use common sense and tradition, rather than experiment with inventing rights and giving them to criminals, illegals, etc.

Abortion isn't a religious issue, actually.

But yeah, it's good to have it cleared up, although it's sort of exactly where I suspected it was. I think Kingpoleon only deemed this necessary due to you posting in the "describe/opinion of above posters ideology" and "if the three above posters were running for POTUS" threads. Tongue

Yeah, what I meant is social issues which often have a religious angle to them, not always.

"deemed this necessary"

As your King, I prefer "proclaimed in his infinite wisdom". However, I pardon your improper language. You will not be beheaded right now.
