The Commission on Presidential Debates has the following criteria to get into the debates:

Gary Johnson got 10% in the latest Fox poll. He appears to now have the backing of one of the Koch brothers[EDIT: report denied] and after they exhaust other options, some of the Never Trump crowd seeking a 3rd party nominee could also come to his side.  So will he (and his VP candidate Weld) make it into at least one debate?

Gary Johnson got 10% in a junk poll. He does not appear to have the backing of one of the Koch brothers.

Most polls won't include him and those that do will not have an average of 15% support.

No you need to be polling at 15% in  order to be included in the debates. I just don't see that happening, many polls do not even ask about a specific third parties;the  polls that do that have Johnson well short of 15%.

He may this year because (A) he and Weld (his running mate?) are candidates with traditional qualifications for the Presidency and (B) the anti-establishment mood of the nation, with its collective anger against both parties' establishments, will demand inclusion.  Indeed, the Green Party may be included as well.

I'd like him to, but it's doubtful. Maybe if the NeverTrumps and BernieorBust types agreed to coalesce around him?

The Commission on Presidential Debates was formed specifically to prevent third parties from getting into the debates. Johnson won't get in, if he got close they'd move the goal posts.

There's a good chance.

If a poll shows positive numbers, it will likely mean that the others will have to include him as well.

I hope Fuzzy is right. It has always irked me that the Democrats and Republicans have somehow been given control of who is included in the debates. Very self-serving. My rule would be this: if a person is on enough ballots that they could win an absolute majority of the electoral votes and become president, that person should be allowed in the debates. Don't know what would be so unreasonable about that...

Perot was a billionaire who could muscle his way in and 2016 is not exactly 1992.
