The lists are

- Maintenant le Peuple: "now the People", list of la France Insoumise (unsubdued France), Jean-Luc Mélenchon's party. Allied with the split from the Socialist Party Gauche Républicaine et Socialiste (Republican and socialist Left). They're in the European coalition GUE. They ran on a left wing populist and slight euroskeptic lign: they want to remove the European traities without leaving the EU. Despite the other left lists that want to renegotiate the traities, they want France to not apply them if the negociation fails. Led by Manon Aubry, former spokeswoman of Oxfam France, she was a lobbyist against corruption in the European Parliament sofar.

- Alliance Royale: "royal alliance", royalist party who wants to establish monarchy in France

- La ligne claire: "clear line' far right list that advocates deportation for migrants because of the Great Replacement theory, led by the inventor of this concept, Renaud Camus.

- Pirate Party: they advocate freedom of expression, freedom in the internet and transparency.

- Renaissance: "Rebirth" as well as "Renaissance". The list of Macron's party La République en Marche (Walking Republic) allied with Agir (Act), a split from Les Républicains who decided to back Macron, and Mouvement Démocrate (democratic movement). They want to move forward in the European construction, with a European budget for example. They advocate a quick Brexit. Led by former Secratary for Europe Nathalie Loiseau. They will join the new coalition who will succede to ALDE.

- Démocratie Représentative: "Representative Democracy", a list that wants to be the spokeslist for the poor urban neighbourhood and fight against racial stigmatisation.

- Ensemble patriotes et gilets jaunes: "together patrots and yellow vest". A list led by European MP and former number 2 of the FN Florient Philippot, who advocates Frexit. They're backed by Nigel Farage. Member of European coalition EFDD.

- PACE: environmentalist, pro-EU list who wants to move Europe forward by placing the European Citizens at the center of the EU.

- Urgence écologie: "ecology emergency". A coalition of minor environmentalist party like Génération écologie (generation environementalism) or the founding father of French political environmentalism Antoine Waechter. They focus on the biodiversity questions.

- Reconquête "reconquest". Far right list who wants to "free Europe from multiculuralism and migration".

- Les Européens: "The European". List of the center right party Union des Démocrates Indépendants (independant democrats' union ). The advocate a federalist Europe and their major proposition is to create bills of one euro. Members of ALDE

- Envie d'Europe: "desire for Europe". List of the Socialist Party and the new party Place Public (public place), led by philosopher Raphael Glucksman. They want new traties that would allow a environmental and social Europe. They will be in the PSE group, except the number 4 of the list who wants to join the Green group.

- Parti fédéraliste européen: "european federalist party". A party that advocates a european federation.

- Mouvement pour l'initiative citoyenne: "movement for a citizen's initiative". Yellow vest movement that advocates citizen's referendums in France and Europe

- Le courage de défendre les Français: "courage to defend the French" List led by mp Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, member of European coalition ECR. They want to rebuild Europe and make it a association of Nations instead of a federation.

- Allons Enfants: "Arise Children" (it's the begin of la Marseillaise). A party that defends the youth's interests, formed by members that are all under 25.

- Décroissance 2019: "Decrease 2019". A party that advocates economic decrease to save the environment.

- Lutte Ouvrière: "worker's fight". A trotskist list that want to be the spokeslist of the working class. They're endorsed by the other "major" trotskist party, le Nouveau Parti Anticapitaliste (New anticapitalist party). They're led by former presidential candidate Nathalie Arthaud.

- Pour l'Europe des gens contre l'Europe de l'argent: "For Europe of the men and women, against Europe of the money". The list of the communist party, led by parisian concilor Ian Brossat. They want to fight against the financial lobbies. They're hostile to the current European traities, but don't want to leave them if a renegociation fails. Member of GUE.

- Ensemble pour le Frexit: "together for Frexit". List led by former presidential candidate François Asselineau. They advocate only one thing, Frexit.

- Liste citoyenne du printemps européen: Citizen's list of the European Spring. A list led by former socialist presidential candidate Benoît Hamon, who defected the PS to build his own party, Génération.s. They advocate an environmentalist, social Europe, want to make new traities but not leaving the current ones if a negociation fails.

- A voix égales: "with equal voices". A feminist list that advocates sexual equality.

- Prenez le pouvoir: "take the power", list of Rassemblement National (national rally), led by the young RN militant Jordan Bardella, endorsed by the Le Pen family (even Jean-Marie). They left their euroskeptic propositions behind, don't advocate leaving the euro anymore. They want to focus their fight against migration and terrorism.

- Neutre et actif: "neutral and active". A list that wants to fight abstention.

- Parti Révolutionnaire Communiste: "revolutionnary communist party". A split from the communist party. They have a pure marxist doctrine, and criticise the communist party for being too far from Marx's ideas.

- Esperanto: a list that advocates the use of the universal language esperanto accross Europe.

- Evolution citoyenne: "citizen's evolution". Yellow vests' list led by a yellow vest leader.

- Alliance jaune: "yellow alliance". Yellow vests' list led by famous singer and perennial candidate Francis Lalanne.

- Union de la droite et du centre. "Union of the right and the center". The list of Les Républicains, led by prolife philosopher and deputy-mayor of Versailles François-Xavier Bellamy. They're more euroskeptic than usual, mostly because the liberal wing defected the party. Member of the EPP.

- Europe Ecologie: "Europe environmentalism". The list of the green party, allied with the federation of regionalist parties régions et peuples solidaires (regions and people showing solidarity). They're on a pro business environmentalist platform (pro business relatively at what they are usually), and are pro European.

- Parti Animaliste: "animalist party". They advocate animal's rights.

- Les oubliés de l'Europe: "the Forgotten of Europe", a list that defends artisans, shopkeeper and independant workers.

- Union démocratique pour la liberté, égalité, fraternité: "democratic union for liberty, equality, fraternity": a list that advocates a "strong France for a new Europe".

Is there any difference in policy between the LREM-led list and the UDI list?
BTW I would probably vote for LREM, they're not perfect but they are better than the alternatives.

And it seems that the French traditional Gaullist right likes to use "la droite et le centre" - is it for historical reasons because some centrist parties were involved in one of the mergers of the French right?

UDI is far more federalist than LREM

Since 1958 the right and the center have been allied. Even now some center-right parties are allied with LR (Nouveau Centre, new center, of Normandy's president Hervé Morin)

The PS list.

Any reason why French parties use different names in the EU elections? Like RN running as "Prenez le pouvoir" instead of just "rassemblement national" or LREM running as "Renaissance" instead of "La Republique en Marche" (or a variation like "Europe en Marche")?

Renaissance. Macron needs to be supported.

I wish La Republique en Marche would expand to Germany and become a real force.

RN

I don't like them, but anyone else is a vote for LREM at this point basically. This election is a referendum on Macron, and we need to show him and the government what we think. I hope RN finishes first to hammer that point in.

LREM is awful, they represent everything that's wrong with politics. Germany is lucky not to have them.
