I would. I would gather as much money as I possibly can, call all the political connections available, launch an independent campaign knowing I will lose claiming that America needs a true conservative, and tell Trump to go to hell.

I would. I would gather as much money as I possibly can, call all the political connections available, launch an independent campaign knowing I will lose claiming that America needs a true conservative, and tell Trump to go to hell.

That could be the one way to get Trump elected. Trump might not be able to get a majority of Americans, but he may well get a plurality in a splintered race. The only thing to do to screw him is to endorse Clinton.

I can't think of many states where this kind of vote splitting would actually win Ryan enough EVs to cause it to go to the HoR. Such a split would gift PA and OH to Hillary, no?

Also if I were Ryan, I'd prefer this. I'd gamble that if it did get to the House, my old soldiers will vote for me instead of Trump.

No, it wouldn't, because Ryan would take mostly reluctant trump backers and nevertrumpers.
