Surprisingly, it seems most news outlets are ignoring this or vaguely referencing it. I didn't know what it was when I saw something about Melania on Twitter until I came here.

Media is not taking bait to ignore Trump bashing the Muslim wife or him not knowing basic facts on Russia and Crimea.

I personally think that this is preemptive damage control by the Trump campaign. These photos are a known quantity and will eventually be used by the Democrats.

Publishing them first in a friendly newspaper and in a controlled way (the photographer positively commenting on Melania's personality) is probably the best strategy in this case.
